This year was a difficult one for Mira Chai Hyde. With the greatest sorrow and a shattered heart, she had to say goodbye to her sweetest gentle giant, Shaft.
Shaft was a 13-year-old Doberman living the best life who succumbed to a sudden attack of Gastric Dilatation Volvulus (GDV). GDV is a life-threatening condition where the stomach becomes distended with gas and twists on itself. This happens in deep-chested dog breeds. Mira was right there with her baby and gave her the best care rushing her to the Vet. She explains the details in her Instagram post: https://www.instagram.com/p/C_TJYuZvPFD/?img_index=1. For us who love our fur babies, it is crushing to lose our children. Mira is a natural caregiver and the people who need her most know it.
I was honored to meet Mira and get to know how giving she is in person. She has amassed an awe-inspiring clientele through the years with her decades of talent working with Alexander McQueen and Bowie to Harrison Ford and Pedro Pascal. She has made a name for herself within the decades of her career in music, film, fashion, and entertainment. Not only styling but, creating top-quality products to enhance her looks. Wandering around her salon is like going through a behind-the-scenes museum of the stars. A boom box playing cassette tapes, autographs all over the walls, images taped and pinned everywhere…a gestalt of wonder and creativity.
When ASM management asked me what I thought was the best way to send love, I knew what to do. Being able to give her something that touched her heart and could always put a smile on her face was a great gift for me in return. Her response: “It was the best gift she had ever gotten”. A huge compliment indeed! It touches my heart when a painting can bring tears to someone’s eyes.
